About me

Who I am

Visual pieces that help ideas become clearer.

I'm Alejandro Val, a motion designer from Montevideo, Uruguay. I grew up between drawing, early web design and a lot of VHS and TV graphics, and I somehow ended up doing the adult version of that: motion graphics, titles, explainers and visual pieces that help ideas become clearer.

With over 15 years of experience, I create motion pieces for brands, agencies, production companies, cultural projects and creative teams.

What I do

Most of my work sits somewhere between design, animation and clear communication.

I create motion pieces for brands, agencies, production companies, cultural projects and creative teams: campaign assets, social content, explainers, title sequences, museum pieces and visual systems.

A big part of my work is making ideas easier to follow, whether that means a polished animated scene, a set of adaptable pieces for different formats, or a small After Effects system that keeps a project consistent and saves production time.

How I like to work

Useful first. Good-looking always.

I'm not obsessed with flashy effects; I'm more interested in people understanding what they're seeing.

That usually means spending time at the beginning to understand the story, finding a visual language that fits the project, and keeping the process clear so clients always know where we are.

Outside the screen

Away from the screen for a while.

Outside of work, I ride my bike around Montevideo, play guitar badly but enthusiastically, spend time with my family, and enjoy making things with my hands: drawing, painting, building, fixing, experimenting with materials, and getting away from the screen for a while.

If you're planning a project and think my way of working could help or just want to say hello drop me a line.

Say hi!
